Gerry
joined Strategic Mission Partners in 2002 as an assistant to Danny
Souder on an SMP mission trip to Seattle, Washington. Since then he
has served as a consultant - organizing and leading church planting
teams for the North American Mission Board in their Strategic cities:
Tacoma, Miami, New York Vancouver, Las Vegas and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In
2007 Gerry joined the SMP management team as Vice President of National
and International Logistics. In this role his responsibilities include
researching and coordinating travel, hotel accommodations and meals for
mission team members. He also provides leadership for teams and trains
and mentors new SMP consultants.
Gerry’s enthusiasm stems from
his passion to serve. His greatest enjoyment during a trip comes from
seeing a change in attitude from team members when they are on ‘mission
with God’. Since accepting the Lord nearly thirty years ago Gerry
feels that his leadership training, Bible study, and evangelistic
training have prepared him well to serve God in this capacity. His
wonderful sense of humor and attention to detail make him well suited
to this type of ministry.
He has recently relocated to
Greenville, South Carolina with his lovely and talented wife, Sharyn.
They are active members of First Baptist Church Simpsonville. Both of
them find that their best fulfillment in life today comes when they
partner with God on short term mission trips.
